This 612-acre park is very near a number of big urban centers yet draws rock climbers from around the country. They come here to camp and climb the nearby 200-foot-tall red shale cliffs called High Rocks. There is also some good primitive hiking through steeply sloping woods that border the boulder-filled Tohickon Creek gorge, as well as a spectacular vista. Eighty-two species of birds, some of them rare, have been spotted here, as have copperheads, one of three venomous species of snake in Pennsylvania. Tohickon Creek is also a favorite with trout anglers.
