There’s some fine trout fishing to be had, especially early in spring, as well as 6 miles of hiking in Lyman Run. Wildcat Trail is a relatively short walk that goes past some massive old hemlock trees. Some of the 85-mile Susquehannock Trail, a loop that passes through some of the most rugged country in the Keystone State, also runs through here. What sets this park apart from many others is that it’s a stepping-off point for all-terrain vehicle use. There are 43 miles of ATV trails in Susquehannock State Forest, and Lyman Run has a parking area within walking distance of restrooms and a concession stand catering to riders. These are considered “summer” ATV trails, meaning they are open the Friday before Memorial Day to the last full weekend in September.
