This campground is a good base camp from which to explore some surrounding historical sites. Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob, two homes designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, are just a short distance away, as are the Flight 93 Memorial and the Quecreek Mine Rescue Site. Fort Necessity, site of George Washington’s defeat in the French and Indian War, is close by as well. The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy’s nearly 5,600-acre Bear Run Nature Reserve—its flagship property—is just a short drive away and offers miles of hiking trails.
