Activity Type: Sea Kayaking
Nearby City: Portsmouth
Distance: 16 nautical miles
Tidal Information: Mean tidal range of 4.07 feet at Bristol Ferry. Floods north, ebbs south. For ideal timing, launch from Weaver Cove a few hours before high tide, rounding the northern tip of the island around slack and having current assist while heading back.
Hazards/Cautions: The channel between the launch and Prudence Island is a popular route for powerboaters and a high-speed ferry. When current turns against wind, the area can get fairly rough.
Season: Year-round
Local Maps: NOAA chart #13221; Maptech #18
