Activity Type: Sea Kayaking
Nearby City: Ipswich
Distance: 8-9 nautical miles
Tidal Information: Fox Creek dries out 1 to 2 hours on either side of low tide; Pavilion Beach also dries out considerably at low tide. If you launch or return at lower tides, be prepared to carry your boat over mudflats.
Hazards/Cautions: When wind is from the south, the ebbing current from Plum Island Sound and the Ipswich River can cause waves to stack up and turn particularly choppy over shallow areas. This can also occur at the mouth of the Essex River.
Season: Year-round
Local Maps: NOAA charts #13279 and #13282; Maptech #7
Driving Directions: Directions to Castle Neck
