Activity Type: Sea Kayaking
Nearby City: Stonington
Distance: 10-23 nautical miles
Tidal Information: 9.86-foot mean tidal range in Oceanville, predictable north–south currents. For a circumnavigation, your day will be far easier if you can plan to paddle around the southern end at low tide.
Hazards/Cautions: Be alert for lobster boats. The areas south of Kimball Island and York Island are subject to open ocean and whatever conditions it may bring—usually at least a little swell on a calm day. The south end can be especially rough and committing with minimal bailouts in bigger conditions.
Season: Year-round
Local Maps: NOAA chart #13315; Maptech #475; Waterproof Chart #104
