Tidal Information: 10.56-foot mean tidal range in Bar Harbor. Current over the Bass Harbor Bar floods west (into Blue Hill Bay) and ebbs to the east. Elsewhere in the islands the currents are complex, hard to predict, and can form tide rips and eddies.
Hazards/Cautions: Strong currents around all of these islands, especially over the Bass Harbor Bar. Heavy boat traffic. Watch for the Swans Island/Frenchboro ferry that docks on the east side of the harbor.
