Activity Type: Sea Kayaking
Nearby City: Machias
Distance: 4-14 nautical miles
Tidal Information: 12.76-foot tidal range at Cutler Naval Base. The current generally floods to the northeast. Launching on a falling tide and returning on a rising tide will provide the most current assist.
Hazards/Cautions: The southern side of these islands is exposed to open ocean and whatever conditions it may bring. In particular, the area south of Halifax Island, including Green Island and the Brothers, is likely to be rough, with increased currents interacting with those conditions. Be wary of the shallow bar north of Green Island.
