There are three good reasons to hike this paved, ADA-accessible loop trail: It’s easy enough for hikers and dogs of any age. It’s a rare opportunity to hike with Fido in a national monument. You will be humbled while your dog will be in scent heaven in this rich sequoia cathedral of magnificent giants. Sequoias are considered the largest trees in the world and only grow on a narrow corridor of the western slopes of California’s Sierra Nevada Range between 5,000- and 7,500-foot elevations. The monument comprises almost 330,000 acres, and the Trail of 100 Giants in the Long Meadow Grove is located in the southern portion. The paved trail meanders through this protected grove for close-up views of these majestic sentinels.
