This is a delightful, undulating trail to a vista point overlooking the Bradbury Dam on scenic, albeit man- made, Cachuma Lake. The mostly chaparral- covered landscape is set against the picturesque backdrop of the Santa Ynez and San Rafael Mountains in the Los Padres National Forest. Cachuma Lake is fed by the Santa Ynez River and is the result of the Bradbury Dam, built in 1953. Besides creating a reservoir for drinking water, Cachuma Lake was developed into a splendid 9,000-acre recreation area for hiking, camping, and boating, complete with a nature center and general store.
