Discover Lake Luzerne and pick up a quick history lesson at this sweet little town park. This natural falls, fl owing just below a dam in Lake Luzerne’s Mill Park, would be easy to miss if the town had not had the good sense to build a lovely park around it. Your stroll here takes you past the dam and over a sturdy pedestrian bridge to view the falls from the comfort of some shady woods beyond the stream. Beyond the attraction of the falls, the park spoons up just enough history to make this little place memorable. In 1866, Albrecht Pagenstecher saw the natural water-power at the outlet of Lake Luzerne and established the Manufacturers Paper Company, creating jobs for about ten men. The brown building at the end of the footpath housed the first wood pulp grinder made in the United States that was put to practical use (you can see a replica here in the small museum on the site of the old mill).
