Close to the road but hidden from view, this stunning falls challenges hikers. It takes some doing to get a good look at the waterfall at the mouth of this glen. Follow a steep, slippery trail down to a concrete culvert covered in loose slabs of shale, then make a tottering crossing to a skinny path on the far side of the creek. You will reach a good viewpoint in less than 0.1 mile, but you’ll earn every foot, and it’s no easier on the return—especially on a wet day that turns the paths here to slimy mud.
