Take a brisk, short walk along a creek to a shimmering cascade. Named for William Guppy, an English dairy farmer who raised eight children on this land in the mid- to late 1800s, Guppy Falls is the main attraction at this little preserve.
The waterfall descends over a ridge in the Skaneateles Formation, a shale and sandstone bedrock compression that dates back to the Devonian period in the world’s geologic history—some 390 to 415 million years ago. This hike takes you to a point near the top of the falls where you can view the
cascading waters from above.
