You can complete this whole hike or just a fragment, and it will still be a worthy outing. In fact, you may not get far at all once you reach the brook. There’s something about rocks and water that lends itself to easy entertainment for children. Once distracted by throwing rocks in the water or playing along the water’s edge, it may be difficult to get kids to move on. So prepare to take this one slowly, and be happy with whatever ground you cover.

The sliding shoots approximately 1.1 miles from start of the easy hike where fun although most of the shoots you could not do because of lack of water. Still very fun with the kids, not very challenging.

Howe Brook is a nice easy trail. A great nature walk through the woods with beautiful waterfalls and pools. Great for all ages!

We planned to hike for a while on the Pogy Notch Trail, but we did not want to ford Howe Brook so we changed plans and hiked up the Howe Brook Trail. It was raining off and on, but we had our lunch at Howe Falls. We did not hike to the top of the trail, because of rain. I want to hike this trail again.
