There’s no doubt that this waterfall was created with kids in mind. Dropping 200 feet along Wight Brook in a series of cascades, Step Falls beckons little hikers to scale granite rocks alongside the tumbling water and to plunge into the deep, icy pools. (Don’t forget bathing suits!) But this waterfall won’t just appeal to the children—the gentle, unremitting roar will soothe and relax adults stretched out near the wading pools.
If you’re determined to interest the kids in family hiking, start with this one—it’s a winner. And if you’re a veteran hiker who enjoyed the hikes to Georgiana and Harvard Falls, Bickford Brook Slides, and Hamilton Falls, this, too, will make your list of favorites.
