Climbing to the summit of Great Blue Hill has been popular since colonial days, although there are quite a few more hikers today than there were 200 years ago. Bostonians flock to the 7000-acre Blue Hills Reservation with its 125 miles of trails; it is the largest undeveloped parcel of land within 35 miles of Boston. The route described here entails a moderately challenging ascent with a rewarding view of the city from atop the summit’s stone tower. Kids will thrill to the rocky scramble up and down the mountain while adults scan the tremendous vistas on the upper portion for familiar landmarks.

Great hike for the Bostonians! It is a quick trail that runs over acouple hills. Good workout if you step it up. Nice views of downtown.
