This trail, a favorite among Williams College students, begins just a short distance from campus. (The Williams Outing Club also publishes a trail guide.) It is a family favorite as well because the well-worn path means that even children not yet adept at following blazes can lead the hike. The ascent is continuous and rocky at times, but with a few rest stops children should have no trouble reaching the large, open summit. There, they will delight in scaling the quartzite boulders while the adults take in the expansive view of the valley and nearby mountain ranges. The Pine Cobble Trail is also an access trail to the Appalachian Trail and Long Trail.
