Neighbors who move into the Sunset Hill neighborhood above the marina get used to an unusual soundscape—the groans, barks, and grandiose growls of California sea lions, who stop by yearly for an extended visit. You can make the trip here too, to see these giant, gregarious marine mammals in action. At the dock, Puget Sound is before you, its depths teeming with fish. On a clear day the Olympics rise crisply on the horizon. Just north of this spot, the sandy beaches, a rarity in Seattle, of ultra-popular Golden Gardens Park are scattered with beach blankets nearly year-round.
