Warner Hill is the most kid-friendly hike described in this book. Its gentle grade takes you through a scenic forest. This is a perfect first hike for small children, as it is safe and very gentle. The trailhead is somewhat remote, but if you’re looking for a nice, gentle hike through a spectacularly scenic forest to introduce your progeny to the wonders of a walk in the woods, this is it. The trail up Warner Hill leads right out from the parking area on Blotz Road. It starts off very well-defined, sloping downward slightly and to the left a bit at first. The trail traverses a swampy area with a couple of wooden Appalachian Trail (A.T.) footbridges. Then the trail meanders at a relatively flat grade through the lush green forest of mostly deciduous trees—maples and birch.
