The long walk across a real floating bog with all its interesting and unusual plants, the exciting dam crossing, beautiful red pine forest, Jack Pine Ridge, and views from Maple Hill over looking Grand Marais make for a rather unique and very special walk. All good things come to an end, and so it is with the great weather we have recently had for walking. Last night the wind rose up and brought with it a cold, heavy rain. This morning the sky is a troubled grey with pregnant-looking clouds hanging onto the tops of the higher hills. The wind is strong enough to turn the lake into a sea of rolling, frothy white caps, and the temperature is a cool 45 degrees. Hopefully the rain has ended and the only wet stuff falling on us will be from the drippy tree branches and fluttering leaves.
