From its upper portion southwest of Front Royal, through private farmland and the George Washington National Forest, to its runs between the north and south forks of the Shenandoah River, beautiful Passage Creek is a larger body of water than its name implies. Its runs and riffles occasionally stretch around the cliff-like shale walls of Massanutten Mountain to the east and Green Mountain to the west. This is pretty country, and the mountain laurel that blooms along the banks of Passage Creek adds much ambience to any fishing experience. Types of Fish: Rainbow trout, brown trout, bluegill, and the occasional smallmouth bass and sucker fish. This fly-fishing chapter describes the "where, when, and how" for fishing in this area. It includes a full-page map and information on the known hatches, suggested equipment to use, the best flies to use, season, limits, nearby accommodations, and camping.
