Most of Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge is accessible only by boat, but this short and easy stroll on Morris Island lets visitors see some of the same birds and plants that make North and South Monomoy islands—the bulk of the refuge—such special places. This walk is best done on a falling or rising tide; avoid high tide, as the route may be flooded. During summer, bring insect repellent. Boldface numbers in the description below refer to numbered markers along the trail, which are keyed to text in "Morris Island Trail," a brochure available at the visitor center or online. There are also interpretive panels along the trail, describing some of the area's wildlife and other features.
