This classic Cape walk, best done on a cool day, explores a pristine 6-mile peninsula, actually a barrier beach, that juts eastward from the Sandwich/ Barnstable line and forms the sheltering northern border of the Great Marshes and then of Barnstable Harbor. Your route, on dirt roads called “trails,” traces the marsh side first, then crosses the peninsula and returns via the shore of Cape Cod Bay.
