The trail was great, but getting there was another story. It took me over an hour to travel the 10 miles from the highway to the trailhead. I was driving early in the morning as well, so every time the road turned east, the sun destroyed my vision. I almost drove off enormous sheer drops several times. As for the trail, it offered a beautiful view and I didn't see another soul the whole time.
The trail was not a heavely traveled which added to the excitement. Once you turned off the Mazatzal Divide Trail there was not trail it was just a treak through the woods and rocks but not hard to follow the ridge to the summit. Well worth the hike. Came across a black bear just after the parking lot which was a surprise. I didn't expect a bear that close to Phoenix.
