A taste of Loch Raven Reservoir, but without the people. You may not think highly of starting a hike with busy MD 32 just above you on your right, but you’ll quickly move away from civilization. About 900 feet down the fire road, you’ll see another fire road heading downhill on your left (a pair of orange cables strung with an orange wire on the right marks the entrance off MD 32). Take the road down the hill, and at 0.25 you’ll reach the reservoir; you’ll see a thick forest of white pine on the right.

About the guide: 1 - Rather than follow the parking directions go a 1/4 further north and you'll see a parking lot on the left. Use it. The trail is just done the hill from the left of this lot. 2 - Nobody will finish this in 2.5 hours. Figure on 3.5 unless you plan to jog it. 3 - Crossing over 32 at the end of the hike is scary. There is about 2' between the cars flying by and the concrete wall. In general - The views were great. I enjoyed the hike, however I will NOT do it again because of the crossing over Rt. 32. You can easily be squashed to death there.
