Feel the temperature drop as you descend from wooded hills to the swift Big Gunpowder River, scrambling through an untamed and isolated section along the way.
As you enter the woods on a fire road, you’ll be surrounded by a thick vegetation of oak, pine, flowering dogwood, maple, and poplar above, with several varieties of ferns, raspberry bushes, and honeysuckle below. Many cardinals, jays, thrushes, woodpeckers, warblers, and vireos avail themselves of this great habitat, and they even have their pick of relatively rare black walnut and very rare American chestnut trees.
