It’s time for the secret of NC 80 to come out. Not many bikers have known about this hidden treasure, but its curves and scenery are too nice to be kept under wraps any longer. Here it leads to the Blue Ridge Parkway in a series of hairpin turns. The scenery and excellent road conditions of the Blue Ridge Parkway are no secret to anyone, but yet another road on this route, NC 226A, is still unknown to many. Since NC 226 was built, old NC 226A is rarely used. Deemed “too twisty” by many drivers, it has been all but abandoned. This short ride offers everything to the biker on the go—good scenery, fun roads and plenty of food. Points of interest: The views of Lake Tahoma; the curves of NC 80; views from Black Mountain Overlook, Three Knob Overlook, and Deer Lick Gap; the town of Little Switzerland (food, lodging, general store, and even a bookstore).
