Superior road conditions rule on this ride. The views are spectacular, too. Care to drive under a waterfall? Here’s your chance. This route takes you beneath Bridal Veil Falls. Along the way, you’ll drive through the highest incorporated town east of the Mississippi (Highlands, at 4,118 ft.), and through the resort town of Cashiers, where the Thorpe Reservoir beckons you to stop and sit on its banks. With one gorge, two villages, three waterfalls, and a beautiful reservoir all on excellent roads, you’ll find this ride difficult to pass up. Points of interest: Cullasaja Gorge, Cullasaja Falls, Dry Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, towns of Highlands and Cashiers, Thorpe Reservoir, Western Carolina University campus.
