This is a Lower Kennebec Regional Land Trust (LKRLT) preserve, which encompasses 125 acres. It has two large fields and two completely separate trail loops, which both start from the lower field. Pick up a map at the parking area to get your bearings. The map is not to scale, but it does illustrate the shape of the preserve and the trail locations. The largest field goes all the way down to Merrymeeting Bay and offers spectacular panoramic picture opportunities. The largest field goes all the way down to Merrymeeting Bay and offers spectacular panoramic picture opportunities. The yellow trail goes off to the north and into the woods. The yellow trail is very flat; it makes a half-moon-shaped circuit and ends up back in the upper field. The blue loop has more uneven terrain (and wild turkeys); it heads in the southern direction from the lower field and ends on Chopps Point Road about 100 yards from the parking area. Look to your left and you should be able to see your vehicle as you exit the blue trail. The dogs can swim in Merrymeeting Bay—be careful (!), the rocks are slippery.
