Canyonlands, as the name implies, is an area of deep, colorful canyons. It is a land filled with natural arches, spires and mesas of all shapes and sizes, a fantasy land where nature has gone wild. While some portions of the park are easily reached, others are among the most remote regions in the United States and are visited only by a handful of hearty adventure travelers. A seemingly endless stretch of almost flat plateaus, broken by a seemingly uncountable number of deep canyons carrying rushing rivers, stretches as far as the eye can see. There actually are only two rivers, but they have numerous turns and hairpin bends. The unusual scenery so common throughout southern Utah can also be found in Canyonlands. Strange formations are numerous and so are the varying shades of color that change with the passing of the day. This eTrail explains in detail how to tour the park. In addition to a park map the details include driving tours, outdoor recreation, accommodations, campgrounds, dining, and more.
