Kenosha, voted the "Second Best City to Raise a Family" by Readers Digest magazine, has been one of Wisconsin's best-kept secrets. Nestled tightly against the shores of Lake Michigan, Kenosha lies between Milwaukee (36 miles to the north) and Chicago (55 miles to the south). Because of its location, Kenosha has become a bedroom neighborhood for both cities, and its many attractions reflect the rapidly growing community. Kenosha is now in the midst of a complete makeover. New pubs, galleries, arts centers, and restaurants are making their way back into the downtown area. The community's many festivals, as well as its famous charter fishing, also makes Kenosha a great destination. This eTrail from the DayTrips series describes many fascinating, exciting, (and many free of charge) things to do, most within a two-hour drive of Milwaukee. Each Day Trip includes destination highlights, places to visit along the way, choice restaurants and lodging, and shopping.
