County Highway O will take you to Ashippun, home of the Honey Acres, a real honey of a museum. After having fun in Ashippun tasting the various honeys, take your sweet old time south along Dodge County Highway O to Watertown, which was one of Wisconsin’s most prosperous communities even before the territory became a state. In mid-May each year, Columbus celebrates its nickname as the "Red Bud City" with a Red Bud Festival that includes music, the crowning of a prince and princess, bargains in the shops, and a library book sale. The color of the town's redbud trees during spring brings an explosion of crimson to the scene. This eTrail from the DayTrips series describes many fascinating, exciting, (and many free of charge) things to do, most within a two-hour drive of Milwaukee. Each Day Trip includes destination highlights, places to visit along the way, choice restaurants and lodging, and shopping.
