Tunica County is one of the most popular destinations in Mississippi, primarily because of the casinos. Nestled among quiet country roads is Robinsonville, home of the Midsouth’s version of Las Vegas gaming. And further into Tunica County is the town of Tunica, a charming and quaint Mississippi hotspot. Although most of the drive is peaceful, once you cross the county line, things are anything but quiet. The bright lights, big shows, and game tables of ten outstanding resorts beckon even the most reserved visitor. Tunica hasn’t always been the home of glitz and glamour. Visitors can tour the grounds and gallery of the McCartys by wandering through a bamboo tunnel and into an elaborate garden, filled with rare herbs and indigenous plants and trees. The artists’ studio itself is built from the remains of an old mule barn. This eTrail from the DayTrips series describes many fascinating, exciting, (and many free of charge) things to do, most within a two-hour drive of Memphis. Each Day Trip includes, destination highlights, places to visit along the way, choice restaurants and lodging, and shopping.
