This short but extremely challenging route through rural and historic Frederick County, Maryland, is one of the most popular among local cycling clubs. It can be completed in a few hours, but features some thigh-burning climbs as well as mountain views and a bit of Civil War history. Terrain: very hilly. Though this ride is at least 10 miles shorter than the shortest challenge, its long and difficult climbs qualify the route for the higher difficulty level. Do not be fooled by its short length. This is a challenging ride.

A very nice ride with your fair share of hills. Be ready to change your gears for some of the steeper inclines. In addition, some of the roads have no shoulders and be cautious of some of the curves. Overall, if you like attacking hills, this is the ride for you. Enjoy.
