High views along the rim. Looking east you can see the La Sal Mountains and the “Windows” area of Arches National Park. Many fun side roads to explore, but stay on existing roads. No cross-country travel is allowed. Challenging rock ledges are scattered along the route, but much of the trail is easy to moderate. The side trip to Uranium Arch is a bit steep in places but well worth the effort. The stretch across Courthouse Pasture is fast and easy. Much of the trail crosses open slickrock which makes route-finding confusing at times. Fortunately, the natural flow around the rim helps guide you. Merrimac and Monitor Buttes are handy landmarks that help you find your way.
