Definitely not for the faint of heart, but gorgeous views from the top!
Absolutely one of my favorite trails in the area. Very easy although I'd still recommend 4WD. Trail offers great views of Fountain Hills and the valley in the background. Also some of the best sunsets in Arizona. Camp spots about every 5-10 minutes along the trail.
Sunset picture I captured with my dog last weekend, http://hdwallsource.com/golden-retriever-sunset-smile-wallpaper-49509.html
Good trail. Not difficult and can be done in almost any vehicle with decent clearance. Didn't use 4wd the entire trip, but some great views and good hiking areas. Difficulty level 2.
This is the first trail that I have been on since I moved to Arizona. I have a 2004 LJ. I took my wife and 2 little girls, and had a blast! Very moderate and smooth in most areas. Great views. We saw some wild horses at the top. Great place to pack a picnic!
This trail is a great choice to break-in your new 4X4. The trail is easy, but still, be careful. Leave early on the weekends or holidays to beat the crowds. I took my kids up in my new Jeep Wrangler with the top off and we had a blast. At the parking area near the top, we hiked some of the peaks trails. After that, we followed the road down the other-side to Roosevelt lake and then came back via the Apache Trail. Lots of fantastic views, so bring a camera. Also, lots of wildlife so be looking. A super-fun day in the outdoors!
