You will be surprised by the two significant waterfalls found on this hike. Follow sizeable Turtletown Creek downstream in a deepening mountain valley. Reach the twin drops of Turtletown Falls, roaring into a hefty plunge pool. Resume down the rugged valley, pulling away from the creek. Finally drop to Lower Turtletown Falls, a very unusual cataract. First, it spills in tiers, then narrows in hourglass fashion, then widens to a V-shaped spillover. Your return hike loops past bluffs overlooking the Hiwassee River.
