There are many cataracts named “Laurel Falls” in Tennessee, but there is no mistaking this long, tall beauty encased in the confines of Laurel Snow Wilderness, a deep, uninhabited gorge on the Cumberland Plateau. The hiking is as tough as the canyon is imposing. First, you will head up Richland Creek past old coal mining relics, then navigate through boulders and up to Laurel Falls. The second part of the hike takes you back across Richland Creek to the other side of the gorge and Snow Falls, making a craggy tumble of its own.
