Stinging Fork Falls is certainly in the running for Tennessee’s most beautiful waterfall. However, you would not know it as you start the hike. It travels through what was once a pine plantation, now reverting to native woodlands. Then you come to the Stinging Fork canyon and a sea change of scenery: a steep, deep gorge deserving of its status as a state natural area. Then you will find 30-foot Stinging Fork Falls, dancing over a tree-lined rock rim into an aqua blue pool that elevates this scene to best-of-the-best-status.
