This is a cool hike to a cool waterfall. Leave the trailhead and head to the rim of Big Branch gorge. Grab an early top down view of Northrup Falls. From there, descend into the canyon, cruising along clifflines and rockhouses. Reach Northrup Falls and view the pourover from many vantages as it dives off a rim into an enormous rockhouse. The trail takes you behind the falls and down the Big Branch canyon, passing more geological marvels. Finally, the hike curves atop the gorge rim, passing above Northrup Falls one more time before returning to the trailhead.
