If you’ve brought the family along for this route, you’re in luck! This reservation not only has deep woods hiking but also ponds with easy access points, picnic areas, a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, and a spacious pavilion just in case the weather isn’t cooperating. Walk back down through the large sand and gravel parking lot and pass behind the gatehouse, reaching a map signboard at the trailhead. Begin on a wide footpath paralleling Hartford Street to your left before turning right, passing behind two metal posts spanned with chain. You’ll now be on a level access road passing through mostly large to medium oak and soon see a brown sign with white lettering indicating this is the Loop Trail.
