Overlooking the wide-open, blue Atlantic Ocean waters on Buzzards Bay, Horseneck Beach not only offers miles of expansive strolling and cool breezes but also plenty of opportunities for swimming and fishing. In addition, and near this route, Horseneck Beach State Reservation boasts 2 miles of wide, sandy shoreline more suitable for swimming. Plenty of opportunities abound for ocean fishing on this stretch. The pavement ends in a parking lot, and at the head of the parking lot to your right, you’ll see the entrance to an access road behind a green metal gate. Pass around the gate onto a wide, sandy roadbed surrounded by beach plums; depend- ing on the season, aromatic wild roses may be in bloom. Soon you’ll curve into the interior of this island with the open ocean visible over low-lying vegetation on either side.
