Walking along dunes and beach, you’ll have scenic ocean and marsh views throughout most of this route. Perhaps the most remarkable feature is that after driving 6 miles down a dirt and gravel road along the length of Plum Island on the Atlantic Ocean, you’ll soon see that not too far across the water, a heavy residential presence crowds the shoreline, serving as a strong reminder that the same fate would have befallen Sandy Point had it not been preserved.
