This is a short (0.8 mile, of which the first 0.5 is the “official” route), fantastically beautiful trail in a fascinating historic area, to the top of a craggy mountain. On a clear day, you can see from Mount Shasta to Mount Hood (about 350 miles), one of the best panoramas of the High Cascades. The drive to the trailhead is also outstanding, if a bit challenging.
