This drive starts at a convalescent home and ends at a burial mound, but it’s fairly lively in between. The route follows Wisconsin Highway 22 from the Wisconsin Veterans Home and Museum on Waupaca’s chain of twenty-two spring-fed lakes, to Copper Culture Mound State Park in Oconto on the shore of Green Bay. Oddities found along the way include a town named Embarrass and a piece of the Great Wall of China. WI 22 rolls over hills, through forests, and past lakes and rivers.
Special attractions: Copper Culture Mound State Park, Wisconsin Veterans Home and Museum, the Great Wall of China, The Menominee Logging Museum, Oconto County Forest Machikanee Unit, hiking, fishing, camping, cross-country skiing, wildlife watching.
