This 23-mile drive climbs to the summit of Mount Mansfield, Vermont’s highest point, and threads through 2,162-foot-high Smugglers Notch, an abrupt cleft chiseled into the Green Mountains. Cars pulling trailers and recreational vehicles should not attempt the road section through Smugglers Notch.
