This is an easy 61-mile drive on two-lane roads through a rich agricultural landscape, beginning at a historic stage stop, and ending at a pocket-sized canyon. Side trips to Balanced Rock, Hagerman National Fish Hatchery, and The Nature Conservancy’s Thousand Springs property can add another 56 miles to the tour. The route follows the Snake River to a series of natural springs that burst from the basalt cliffs along the Snake River Canyon’s rim.
Special attractions: The historic Stricker Store and stage stop; the city of Twin Falls; Twin Falls County Historical Museum; Thousand Springs, with its myriad of springs gushing from the cliffs; Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument; and Malad Gorge State Park. This eTrail is a complete description of a scenic drive with a route map and information on the best travel seasons, interesting sites, recreation opportunities, camping locations, and much more.
