A 61-mile route from volcanic desert sagebrush lands into spectacularly rugged mountains. The Sawtooth Scenic Byway traverses a wonderland of rugged alpine peaks and deep glaciated valleys. The two-lane highway is paved, with frequent scenic turnouts. Traffic is moderately busy in summer and light the rest of the year.
