A 67-mile, or 111-mile loop, paved route along the scenic Kootenai River and Lake Koocanusa in northwest Montana. The Lake Koocanusa Scenic Byway travels alongside scenic Kootenai River and Lake Koocanusa between the Salish Mountains and the Purcell Range. The two-lane road is paved and has frequent turnouts. Traffic is usually light but there are occasional logging trucks. Montana Highway 37’s paved shoulder makes an excellent bicycle route. Special attractions: Libby Dam Visitors Center, wildlife viewing, dam tours, salmon and trout fishing, camping, picnicking, rock climbing, hiking, sailboarding, and bicycling.
