A 47-mile paved road through hardwood forests and along numerous lakes. Set in a region of hardwood forests and freshwater lakes, Northwoods Scenic Byway travels 22 miles along the edge of two beautiful semi-primitive areas. The two-lane highway is paved, with narrow shoulders and limited pullouts. A good portion has no passing lanes and traffic is light and generally slow because of the rolling, winding route. Special attractions: Suomi Hills and Trout Lake semi-primitive areas, Rice River Canoe Route, autumn colors, lakes, boating, fishing, camping, hiking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, historic sites. This eTrail is a complete description of a scenic drive with a route map and information on the best travel seasons, interesting sites, recreation opportunities, camping locations, and much more.
